The Atelier

A discipline of
patience & hide.

From the workshop in Valencia Town, our craftsmen cut, stitch and hand-finish every duffle, tote, western hat and hair-on-hide piece. No two are identical — the grain and character of each hide dictate the final form.

We supply boutiques, brands and private clients across twenty-five countries with pieces that grow more beautiful with wear.

Signature Velano Hides leather jacket — full-grain, hand-finished

Signature · Nº 07

A jacket that outlives the season.

Cut from a single full-grain hide, lined in raw silk and closed with hand-set brass. Broken-in from the first wear, and only softer with the years.

  • Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, aged 12 weeks
  • Saddle-stitched seams with waxed Irish linen
  • Custom sizing and monogramming on request
  • Delivered in a canvas dust bag with care oil

The Materials

Three hides. A hundred possibilities.

We work almost exclusively in three families of hide, each chosen for a specific quality of hand, drape and patina.

01
Cognac Full-Grain
Vegetable tanned, 3.2 mm — for bags, belts and rugs.
02
Chocolate Nappa
Full-aniline finish, 1.4 mm — for jackets and small goods.
03
Natural Hair-On
Untreated cowhide — for signature rugs and throws.

The Process

From raw hide to heirloom.

Every commission moves through the same four hands — from selection to shipping, without a factory line in between.

  1. 01
    Selection

Only the top 5% of local hides — each inspected under daylight for grain and character.

  2. 02
    Cutting

Patterns laid by hand to follow the natural stretch of the hide — zero waste.

  3. 03
    Saddle Stitch

Two needles, waxed linen, one hole at a time. Each seam takes hours, not minutes.

  4. 04
    Finishing

Edges burnished with beeswax, hardware hand-set, care oil applied before packing.

The Word

Kept by boutiques across twenty-five countries.

"We commissioned twelve custom weekenders for a client gift. The stitching, the finish — indistinguishable from houses charging four times more."

"The rug has been under our dining table for three years. Two dogs. A toddler. It looks better today than the week it arrived."

Leather craftsman's workbench — awl, waxed thread, edge beveler and cognac leather

Tools of the trade

A workbench older than most brands.

The awl passed from father to son. The mallet worn to the shape of a hand. The measure of a maison is what it refuses to modernise.
